3 takeaways from the Utah Jazz's 129-97 trouncing of the New York Knicks

The Utah Jazz bounced back from their 17-point loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night by absolutely trouncing the New York Knicks on Saturday, 129-97 despite being without Ricky Rubio and Jae Crowder, who were both out because of injury.

Here are three takeaways from the game.

  • The Jazz got going early by getting whatever shot they wanted at the basket. They scored 24 points in the paint in the first quarter, and Rudy Gobert finished the frame with 16 points and seven rebounds (he had 25 points and 16 rebounds in all). For the night, Utah scored a whopping 70 points in the paint compared to just 26 for the Knicks.
  • As a result of getting such good looks, the Jazz had 11 assists in the first quarter. They finished the night with 30. Starting in place of Rubio, Dante Exum had a career-high 13 dimes on the night to go along with 13 points.
  • On the defensive end for the Jazz, New York shot just 37 percent from the field for the game and Utah outrebounded the Knicks 60-35. In addition to Gobert's 16 boards, Derrick Favors and Thabo Sefolosha both grabbed 10.
