I usually work on a desktop PC, I only use the laptop when I'm away from home, but I always prefer a desktop PC. 6 months ago I have a new PC and I would like to share a comparison between the new and the previous.
I'm not very demanding about Intel or Amd, but I'm mostly interested in the features, independent of the brand.
PC Previous AMD 6400K
I had it since mid-2016, it was my first experience with AMD and it turned out very well. At the time I bought it as PC Gamer and it really works fine, running normal GTA 3 and GTA V with low graphics, in addition to Wii emulators and Wii U.
Features:
- Processor: AMD 6400K 3.9Ghz Dual core (4.1Ghz Turbo)
- Cache: 2MB
- Ram: 4GB RAM
- Hard Disk: 320GB HDD
- Graphics: Integrated Radeon HD 8470
- Operating System: Windows 10, Linux Mint 19
The programs for my work executed them very well, they really consume few resources: Sublime Text, XAMPP, Visual Studio, Android Studio, Camtasia, Uni ty and 3d for the basic tasks.
Well, at the time I was feeling normal.
With the passage of time the PC started to be encouraged, and I'm not installing rare programs, nor using antivirus, not even Microsoft Office I have, I only have the essentials.
Everything seemed normal until I had my new PC with Intel Core i5 8400, then I noticed a very big difference
PC New Intel Core i5 8400
I bought it in mid of this 2018, everything really improved, compared to my previous PC.
Features:
- Processor: Intel Core i5 8400 2.8ghz – 6 cores (4.0 Ghz) Turbo)
- Cache: 9MB
- Ram: 8GB
- Hard Disk: 500GB HDD + 120GB SSD
- Graphics: Integrated Intel HD 630
- Operating System: Windows 10, Linux Mint 19
games that I have tried are: Wii emulator, Wii U emulator, GTA V, Fornite, Assasins Creed 3, The Witcher 3.
programs run much faster, it's amazing how everything works better, I do not have to worry about having many tabs open in the Google Chrome browser.
Visual Studio, Android Studio and Unity 3d, run at a really speed Well, I do not have to wait for anything, while on my previous PC if I had to wait a few seconds.
The Camtasia improved the rendering speed a lot, the other programs run much faster, I'm really happy with the change, since it helped me a lot to optimize my work.
Another advantage is that this PC is much quieter and turns on faster.
Conclusion
The New PC is a significant improvement, however I respect my PC Previous because I can stand a lot of work and I still have it working for other minor tasks.
It is obvious the improvements regarding the processor, motherboard, ram, besides the investment that I made in the new PC was almost of the oble of what I cost the previous pc.
