MINISTRY OF DEFENSEThe Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez travels to Mali to visit the Spanish contingent deployed in that West African country. Sanchez also plans to hold a meeting with the prime minister of the country, Soumeylou Boubèye Maïga.
The chief executive, who does not accompany on this trip the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles left early this morning for Mali to learn about the work done by Spanish troops within the European Union mission (EUTM Mali), dedicated to advising and training the Malian army in the fight against jihadist terrorism
The Spanish detachment of this mission is based in Koulikoro and is made up of 293 personnel.

The Ivory Detachment is based in Senegal and gives air support to the EU missions in Mali and the Sahel. Spain participates in it with 58 troops.
A total of 3,025 Spanish military and civil guards are currently participating in sixteen missions abroad.
