Utah State Aggies RB Darwin Thompson to skip senior season, enter NFL draft

A second Utah State Aggie will be leaving Logan with hopes of landing in the NFL.

After tight end Dax Raymond declared his intention on Dec. 3 to enter the league's 2019 draft, running back Darwin Thompson followed suit Thursday night.

"I have spent a lot of time weighing all options for my future, receiving advice from my family and coaches throughout the process," Thompson said as part of a statement released by the school. "I have come to the decision to leave school and enter the 2019 NFL draft."

A junior for the Aggies in 2018 after transferring from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Thompson led the team in rushing as he split carries with Gerold Bright. Thompson finished with 1,044 yards and 14 touchdowns on 153 carries while Bright had 888 yards with 10 touchdowns on 141 carries.

Thompson also caught 23 passes for 351 yards with two receiving touchdowns. Bright finished with 22 receptions for 252 yards and three receiving touchdowns as Utah State had one of the most productive offenses in all of college football.
