Motorcyclist, 21, killed in Springville crash

SPRINGVILLE — A 21-year-old motorcyclist died late Friday after losing control on a wet road and crashing into a car in Springville, police said.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, was wearing a helmet and protective gear, according to Springville Lt. Warren Foster. The car's driver cooperated with investigators, Foster added.

The crash happened about 11 p.m. Friday, when the northbound motorcycle traveling on South Main lost control at the intersection with U.S. 89. It collided with the southbound car that was turning right onto South Main, Foster said.

The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene. It's not clear why he lost control, but wet roads and speed may have played a role, according to Foster.

The Utah Highway Patrol is aiding in the investigation.
