Members of the Utah National Guard showcased the Homeland Response Force's capabilities during a training exercise at Camp Williams in Bluffdale on Saturday. The force gives the governor immediate response capabilities to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive threats.
In order to save lives and mitigate human suffering, forces are designed to deploy within six to 12 hours, providing casualty assistance, medical triage, decontamination, search and extraction, command and control, and fatality search and recovery. According to the Guard, they have the ability to integrate with first responder teams, augment operations or act independently.
