PAGE, Arizona — A 15-year-old boy died Friday in an apparent drowning at Lake Powell, authorities said.

The teenager from Page, Ariz., was visiting Swim Beach, in the Wahweap District of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, with a group from Page High School, according to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

He was reported missing about 12:30 p.m., officials said, and his body was recovered by the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Dive Team.

The teenager, whose name was not released Friday, was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office in Salt Lake City for an autopsy.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office, National Park Service, and the Kane County Medical Investigator are investigating the incident.
