Emma Gardner, 5, sees her new bike for the first time at Shriners Hospital for Children-Salt Lake City on Sunday, as her mother, Aubree Gardner, right, watches. The organizers of last weekend’s Kruisers for Kids Charity Car Show at Murray City Park donated more than $34,000 to the hospital’s adaptive bike program, which provided new bikes to four patients Sunday. According to the hospital, the bikes help patients develop a sense of independence while providing the option for a fun workout that strengthens their lower body and core muscles. The hospital provides an adaptive bike to a new patient once a week throughout the year, but the wait list is over six months long.
