Uninvited man at wedding was taking photos of children, police say

SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested over the weekend after police say he was taking pictures of children at a wedding reception he wasn’t part of.

John Gerald Horne, 81, was arrested Friday for investigation of voyeurism and trespassing.

University of Utah police were called to Red Butte Garden after it was reported that a man whom nobody knew was taking pictures of women and children, according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.

Horne told police “he knew it was a private event and he wasn’t invited. He admitted to recording and taking pictures of the kids dancing and said that he didn’t receive permission to take pictures and videos from their parents,” the report states.

One witness told police she believed Horne was trying to take pictures of young girls when their dresses came up while they were playing on the ground, according to the report.

Horne has no criminal history in Utah.
