GRANTSVILLE — Grantsville police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 14-year-old girl was struck by a car as she crossed Main Street at Willow Street on Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to the intersection at 5:41 p.m. Sunday, where they found the teen being cared for by a passerby, who also happened to be an EMT, said Grantsville police detective Cody Painter. The girl was awake and able to tell them her name, but was flown to the hospital by the University of Utah AirMed helicopter in critical condition, he said.
The accident closed both directions of traffic for about 45 minutes, and the investigation is ongoing, Painter said.
Police thanked those citizens who aided the child, as well as the Grantsville fire department, Tooele County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain West Ambulance and the University of Utah AirMed team for their quick response.
