Photos: Falling under autumn’s colorful spell

Bright orange leaves dot the landscape as a motorist drives along the Nebo Loop Scenic Byway on Friday. The 37-mile roadway winds through the southern end of the Wasatch Range, between Nephi and Payson, rising to a high point of 9,345 feet and affording views of the steep, wooded surroundings dominated by 11,928 foot Mount Nebo, the tallest summit in the range. Those hoping to see the fall colors along the route should plan for stormy weather as a storm moves into the area on Saturday and Sunday. According to KSL’s Grant Wayman, the colder part of the storm will arrive Sunday, with rain in the valleys and snow in the higher elevations. Saturday’s high should reach the upper 60s, but the temperature will drop into the low to mid-50s on Sunday and well into next week.
