PORTAGE, Box Elder County — An errant driver hit a Utah Highway Patrol car while the trooper was investigating another accident on Saturday.
UHP Sgt. Brian Nelson was in the driver seat of his vehicle when it was struck on the passenger side at about 2 p.m. near Portage on Interstate 15.
Nelson received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released. He is expected to fully recover.
“Please, when you see emergency lights, slow down, move over, and remember there is someone out there trying to keep you safe,” said UHP Col. Michael Rapich.
Rapich said The agency is “grateful” the situation wasn’t worse and that Nelson will be OK.
