ST. GEORGE — Organizers of the 43rd annual St. George Marathon are recruiting volunteers for the Saturday, Oct. 5, race.
Volunteer opportunities include stuffing runner bags leading up to the marathon, serving the pasta dinner, helping at an expo the night before the race, manning aid stations or picking up trash.
Specific volunteer opportunities can be found at stgeorgemarathon.com/volunteer/general. All who volunteer will receive a T-shirt.
According to organizers, the marathon utilizes approximately 1,500 volunteers most years.
“One of the neat things is you do not need a particular skill set to volunteer — there are ways to help for everybody, young and old,” Michelle Graves, deputy director of arts and events for St. George, said in a statement. “The satisfaction you feel when you volunteer is incredible. The camaraderie with the athletes and the other volunteers makes it so worth it.”
