Man kills kitten, breaks windows of girlfriend’s home, police say

SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested Monday after police say he killed a kitten and then tried to disarm an officer.

Salt Lake police officers were called to the area of 1100 West and Indiana Avenue just after 7 p.m. where they were immediately met by Ku Htoo, 23, according to a police affidavit.

“(He) immediately advanced towars a SLCPD officer and fought him with his fists. (Htoo) grabbed the officer’s gun, which was still in the holster, and pulled on it,” the affidavit states.

Htoo was taken into custody following a struggle with police in which he received minor injuries, according to the report.

Once in custody, officers learned that prior to their arrival, Htoo “had broken out several windows to the home and killed a kitten” by throwing it, the affidavit says.

Htoo told police he was upset that he couldn’t talk to his girlfriend, who was not present during the incident.
