Drivers should expect flaggers and 15-minute delays through Thanksgiving

SALT LAKE CITY — Motorists in Little Cottonwood Canyon will encounter lane restrictions beginning as early a 7 a.m. Monday as Utah Department of Transportation crews continue repairs and make improvements following mudslides in August.

State Route 210 will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers controlling traffic both up and down the canyon. The work will take place weekdays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., through Thanksgiving.

Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes while they wait for traffic to pass. In addition, wide loads over 11 feet are restricted and must contact the project hotline at 855-663-6800 to coordinate access.

As part of this project, crews will remove large amounts of debris, rocks and mud from along the road, and repair adjacent slopes. In addition, they will clear out and repair or replace ditches and culverts, and install three new concrete pipe culverts that are 5 feet in diameter to help channel water under the road. Crews will also replace signs and guardrails damaged in the slide.

Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. For the latest information on traffic restrictions during construction, visit the UDOT Traffic website at udottraffic.utah.gov or download the UDOT Traffic app for iPhone or Android.
