Boy dies from snowplow accident

PROVO — A 6-year-old boy was killed after he bounced off a skid loader tractor that his dad was driving to clear the snow near Aspen Grove in Provo Canyon on Friday morning.

After he fell from the seating area, the boy was hit by the scooping mechanism and “received significant head trauma,” Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon said. He said the father and a 9-year-old brother who was also riding along attempted to resuscitate the boy, but “his injuries were too significant.”

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We don’t think this was anything other than a tragic accident,” Cannon said.

The boy’s name was not released Friday, pending the notification of additional family.
