Kanye might change his name to ‘Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West.’ It’ll only be for a year

Kanye West told a crowd in New York City this week that he is considering changing his legal name to “Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West,” but it would only be for a year.

The setup: West made a surprise appearance at the Fast Company Innovational Festival in New York where he spoke about economic power and the possibility of running for the White House in 2024, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Money: Kanye West said he was upset that Forbes didn’t name him as a billionaire, even though he said he sent them “an $890 million receipt” (which, by this reporter’s math, still isn’t $1 billion), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

• “When I did Forbes, I showed them a $890 million (£768m) receipt and they still didn’t say ‘billionaire’. They don’t want us to know that we can buy land; they don’t want us to have the 100 percent ownership (that) I have at Yeezy.”

The name: West reportedly said he “might legally change my name to ‘Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West’ for a year until y’all understand exactly what it is.”

2024: West mentioned his presidential run, too. He has long hinted that he would run for office — he made his intentions known at the 2015 Video Music Awards, though many were unsure if he was serious or not.

• “When I run for president in 2024,” West said, according to Insider. “What y’all laughing at? We would create so many jobs! I’m not going to run, I’m going to walk. When you see headlines saying Kanye’s crazy — one in three African Americans are in jail and all the celebrities are in jail also because they can’t say nothing, they got no opinion, they’re so scared!”

What else?: West recently wrapped up the release of his new album, “Jesus Is King,” which was an attempt at gospel music. Though it might not fit the stereotypical gospel music, a look at the history of the genre shows West hit the mark on the album.

• West is expected to release a Christmas album, too, called “Jesus Is Born.”
• West recently appeared in Salt Lake City for his Sunday Service worship event.
