KUED being rebranded as PBS Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — KUED, the only PBS station in the state, is getting a new name.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 25, the station will be called PBS Utah, according to Johanna Hamilton, the station’s director of marketing and communications.

“Through our new name, we are becoming who we’ve always been — PBS for all of Utah,” she said in a statement.

On Monday, PBS launched a brand update, including a new logo, new color palette and contemporary graphics, which created an opportunity for KUED to move forward with a rebrand.

In a statement, the station said that by aligning with the national brand, it can contribute to the impact and sustainability of PBS in the long term.

The station will still be found on Ch. 7 and will continue broadcasting WORLD Channel, PBS KIDS 24/7, and Create throughout state, extending into parts of Idaho, Nevada, and Wyoming. It will also continue to produce “This Is Utah,” “The Hinckley Report,” “Contact with Mary Dickson,”and other documentaries.

“When KUED becomes PBS Utah, the station embarks on an exciting new chapter,” James Morgese, the station’s general manager, said. “Although the rebrand is a big change, PBS Utah will be the same station that everyone values and loves. We’ll have the same programs, the same people behind the scenes, and the same commitment to our mission and community.”
