SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested Sunday after police say he shot another man outside a Salt Lake City trailer.
Sergio Figueroa, 55, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of attempted murder, having a stolen vehicle and unlawful detention.
About 12:45 a.m. a woman went to visit Figueroa at the trailer he was staying at, 750 S. 2400 West.
“The female victim reported the two argued and that Sergio would not let her leave. The female victim said he kept blocking her path to exit the trailer,” according to a police affidavit
When the woman was finally able to leave, she began walking on a dirt road near a canal. That’s when another man was spotted about 30 to 40 feet away walking toward them, the affidavit states.
“Sergio Figueroa took out a black handgun and ran towards the male victim. Sergio Figueroa got within several feet and pointed the gun at the male victim’s head. Sergio Figueroa then fired two rounds at the male victim. One of the rounds passed through the male victim’s left hand and entered the right side of his chest,” the report says.
Figueroa and the woman ran back to his trailer, while the man ran the opposite direction and called 911. Salt Lake police on Sunday said the man suffered injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
Police responded to the trailer and Figueroa eventually surrendered. Police found a gun in the trailer, which was determined to be stolen, the affidavit states.
