Eamonn Clarke, a graduate student in chemistry, backs away after lighting a container of flammable vapor at the University of Utah Saturday. High school students from all over the state spent the morning geeking out over various ongoing projects at the U.’s annual Science Day. The free event has been hosted by the College of Science and the College of Mines and Earth Science every year at the U. for the past 31 years. Some of the U.’s best professors lead hands-on workshops to give students a look at laboratory research and career opportunities in science, math and engineering.
