SALT LAKE CITY — It’s been 15 years since the “Friends” series finale. Still, the show remains one of America’s most precious exports (thanks, Netflix).
“Friends” has come to movie theaters on a few different occasions this year, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its premiere. It continues this weekend, when select theaters host two nights of Thanksgiving-themed “Friends” episodes. Read on for details.
Luminaria
Arguably Utah’s most impressive Christmas lights show, Luminaria returns to Thanksgiving Point this weekend. The mile-long walk through Thanksgiving Point’s Ashton Gardens features 6,500 programmable lights and a 120-foot tall Christmas tree. Nov. 22-Jan. 4, dates and times vary, Thanksgiving Point, 3900 N. Garden Drive, Lehi, $13-$20 (801-768-2300, thanksgivingpoint.org)
Chelsea Handler
The former host of E!’s successful “Chelsea Lately” visits Kingsbury Hall on her new stand-up comedy tour, “Life Will Be the Death of Me.” It’s a bit of a return to form for Handler, who stepped away from television in 2018 to focus on activist and humanitarian causes like refugee youth education programs and voter registration. Nov. 22, 8 p.m., Kingsbury Hall, 1395 E. Presidents Circle, $45-$110 (801-581-7100, tickets.utah.edu)
Labyrinth grand opening
Utah is no stranger to escape rooms. South Jordan’s newest attraction, simply titled Labyrinth, kicks the concept up a few notches. Labyrinth opens this weekend, and includes 52 mini-games “created to test your mind, body and spirit,” combining elements of escape rooms, obstacle courses and video games. Nov. 23, 10 a.m., 11617 S. Parkway Plaza Drive, South Jordan, $10-$40 (labyrinthsouthjordan.com)
Booker T. Jones
The musical legend behind “Green Onions” visits the State Room on Sunday — one of the many noteworthy musicians passing through Salt Lake this winter season. He’s got a new album, “Note By Note,” and a new autobiography, “Time is Tight.” Jones’ State Room visit even includes as pre-show book reading and Q&A. Nov. 24, 8 p.m., the State Room, 638 S. State St., $48-$82 (801-596-3560, thestateroompresents.com)
‘Friendsgiving’
Now, the event you’ve all been waiting for. Eight Thanksgiving-themed “Friends” episodes come to select theaters on Sunday and Monday. Sunday’s episodes are “The One Where Underdog Gets Away,” “The One With The List,” “The One With The Football” and “The One With All The Thanksgivings.” Day 2 features “The One Where Ross Got High,” “The One Where Chandler Doesn’t Like Dogs,” “The One With Rachel’s Other Sister” and “The One With The Late Thanksgiving.” Nov. 24-25, 7 p.m., select theaters, prices vary (fathomevents.com)
