SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz turned in as up-and-down a performance as there has been in franchise history Sunday afternoon in Toronto.
Despite a record-breaking third quarter and standout outings from Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert, the lows ultimately outweighed the highs as Utah fell to the Toronto Raptors 130-110.
Here are three takeaways from the Jazz’s loss to the Raptors.
- The Jazz were outmatched from the opening tip, as they were outscored by Toronto 37-20 in the first quarter. Pascal Siakam led the way with 19 points in the opening frame on 8 of 10 shooting, while Marc Gasol chipped in 11 points. Toronto’s dominance continued into the second quarter too, and the Raptors finished the first half on a 33-10 run.

- For as bad as Utah was in the first half — the Jazz scored a franchise-worst 37 points — the team was the polar opposite in the third quarter. The Jazz outscored the Raptors 49-30, pulling within 17 points. The team caught fire from 3-point range, with Conley, Joe Ingles, Bojan Bogdanović and Donovan Mitchell all hitting from behind the arc. The 49 points were a franchise record for the most points scored in a quarter.

- With apologies to Conley (20 points) and Gobert (12 points and 11 rebounds), the best Jazzman of the day was veteran forward Jeff Green. Green scored 19 points on 6 of 11 shooting in 15 minutes played off the bench. He added three rebounds and two steals in arguably his best all-around performance in a Jazz uniform.
