A Hillary Clinton series is coming to Sundance 2020

PARK CITY — “Hillary,” a multi-part documentary series about Hillary Rodham Clinton, will make its premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, it was announced Tuesday afternoon.

The announcement included a rundown of the festival’s other episodic works, short films and special events. Eight episodic works, 74 shorts films and nine special events were announced for the festival, which runs Jan. 23 to Feb. 2, 2020 at locations in Park City, Salt Lake City and Sundance Mountain Resort.

“Hillary” will weave never-before-seen footage from her 2016 presidential run with other chapters from her life and feature interviews with Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, friends and journalists. The docuseries is directed by Nanette Burstein, known best for directorial work on the movies “American Teen,” “On the Ropes” and “The Kid Stays in the Picture.”

Other special events include the world premiere of “LANCE,” which examines the rise and fall of former cycling champion Lance Armstrong. Marina Zenovich, who previously directed documentaries about Robin Williams (“Come Inside My Mind”) and Roman Polanski (“Wanted and Desired”), directed “LANCE.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s presence will also be felt at Sundance 2020. A documentary about his longtime improv hip-hop group, titled “We Are Freestyle Love Supreme,” will make its world premiere.
