WASHINGTON, Washington County — A man who was eating at an In N Out fast food restaurant has died after a vehicle plowed into the restaurant on Saturday, police said Sunday.
About 2:45 p.m., the vehicle hit a pedestrian in the parking lot at 832 W. Telegraph St. and then “accelerated and collided into the restaurant dining room and struck patrons inside,” Washington police said in a statement.
Seven people were injured, four of whom were taken by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center. Three drove themselves or had others drive them to the hospital.
Antonio Mendoza, of Las Vegas, had been seated inside the restaurant where the vehicle hit it, police said, and died of his injuries. His age was not available.
“We send our condolences to the Mendoza family, and hope for a full recovery to the others involved,” police wrote.
No information about the driver or what might have caused the crash was released in the statement.
The restaurant was significantly damaged and remained closed Sunday awaiting repairs, according to the statement.
Any witnesses of the incident who have not already spoken to police were asked to call the department at 435-986-1515 to provide a statement.
