SANDY — Real Salt Lake is set to introduce its new general manager and head coach at a press conference at Rio Tinto Stadium on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Among the candidates are interim GM Elliot Fall and interim head coach Freddy Juarez, who helped guide RSL into the playoffs in the final few months of the season.

Juarez took over for Mike Petke when he was fired as head coach back on Aug. 11. Including the three games he served as coach while Petke was suspended, Juarez guided RSL to a 7-4-2 record during the regular season and a playoff win over Portland while in charge.

Fall was named interim general manager back on Sept. 27 when former GM Craig Waibel and the club agreed to part ways.

Whoever is introduced as general manager appears to already to be calling the shots as RSL traded Brooks Lennon to Atlanta United on Monday for $300,000 in allocation money — $150,000 in Targeted Allocation Money and $150,000 in General Allocation Money.

Tuesday’s announcement will give RSL its fifth head coach in club history, following John Ellinger, Jason Kreis, Jeff Cassar and Petke.

The new general manager will be the fourth in club history, following Steve Pastorino, Garth Lagerwey and Waibel.
