CLEARFIELD — Two people were injured and a home suffered extensive damage in a fire Saturday night in Clearfield, fire officials said.

About 10 p.m., crews were called to the home in the area of 725 North and 1250 West. When firefighters arrived, 10- to 15-foot flames were engulfing the garage, said North Davis Fire District Battalion Chief Dave Youngberg

After 30 minutes, the crews from North Davis, Layton, Syracuse, Clinton, Roy, Hill Air Force Base extinguished the fire and kept it contained to the garage, according to Youngberg.

Two adults were taken to Davis Hospital and the University of Utah Hospital, the battalion chief said, but information about their current conditions was not available Sunday evening.

Bystanders told firefighters a man who escaped the house needed to “stop, drop and roll” as his clothes were on fire, Youngberg said.

The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage, he said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
