SALT LAKE CITY — After a one-year hiatus, BYU and Utah Valley will play each other in men’s basketball again next season.
Cougars head coach Mark Pope will face his former team on Nov. 28, 2020, at the Marriott Center, the first of a three-game series announced by UVU Thursday.
BYU will face UVU at the Wolverines’ UCCU Center in 2021, with the final game back in Provo in 2022. The dates for the final two games are not set yet.
“We are excited to play a top-notch program in BYU,” first-year Utah Valley head coach Mark Madsen said in a news release. “I love in-state games because they are great for the community, the fans, and players from both teams.”
BYU owns a 4-1 record over the Wolverines in the series. The Cougars won the first game back in 2003, with BYU taking three of four from UVU during a four-game series from 2015-18 when Pope was the Wolverines’ head coach. UVU beat the Cougars 114-101 in 2016 at the Marriott Center for its lone win in the series.
