WEST JORDAN — A man who was hired as a caretaker at a West Jordan home was charged Friday with abusing one of the children who lived there.
Javier Santos-Nava, 51, of West Valley City, was charged Friday in 3rd District Court with sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony.
A 12-year-old girl reported the abuse in August, according to charging documents. Santos-Nava was an in-home caretaker for the girl’s brother, the charges state.
On one occasion, Santos-Nava wrapped his arms around the girl from behind and inappropriately touched her, according to charging documents. He then told the girl “not to tell her mom because he would lose his job,” the charges state.
The girl also told police that Santos-Nava “did other weird things like straddle her when she was sitting cross-legged and repeatedly ask if she was going to take a shower,” according to charging documents.
