Former University of Utah do-it-all star Eric Weddle announced via Twitter on Thursday that he is retiring from the NFL after 13 seasons, six of which resulted in him going to the Pro Bowl.
Weddle never used the word retiring in his post, but wrote, “It’s been REAL @NFL @Chargers @Ravens, @RamsNFL! TEAMMATES, COACHES and others I LOVE y’all. We had a GREAT RUN!!!!! #BEARDOUT”
Below that message was a list of his career accomplishments, which included five All-Pro selections and 1,235 tackles in 210 career games, among other numbers.

The Alta Loma, California native was selected 37th overall by the Chargers in the 2007 NFL draft. That followed an outstanding career with the Utes which culminated in him being named a consensus All-American in 2006.
