WEST VALLEY CITY — A Magna man who police say hit a pedestrian while driving drunk and then took off, was booked into jail on Thursday.
Just before 1 a.m. on Feb. 2, Kevin Fraser Patterson, 36, hit a man near 2715 S. 6400 West, according to court records. That man was taken to a local hospital in serious condition but has since been released, according to Salt Lake police.
After allegedly hitting the pedestrian, police say Patterson drove off.
“Video of the incident shows the arrestee’s truck in the area and striking the pedestrian before fleeing and being pursued by several vehicles,” according to a police affidavit.
Paterson eventually crashed in West Valley City and was found to be intoxicated, the report states.
On Feb. 5, he was charged in West Valley Justice Court with DUI, a class B misdemeanor; having an open container in a vehicle, a class C misdemeanor; as well as two infractions.
But since being charged in court and discharged from the hospital, police have had trouble finding Patterson. He was arrested Thursday and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, according to the affidavit.
