General conference caution, temple closures and missionary quarantines have all been moves from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to protect members
The coronavirus threat that has left more than 575,000 people sickened globally has prompted The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to take precautionary steps on multiple continents.
In the last week, the church brought home thousands of missionaries for mandatory self isolation, closed all temples and offered church parking lots in Utah as possible COVID-19 testing sites. The church announced that its much-anticipated general conference broadcast will not originate from the Conference Center but rather a smaller venue. So far, none of the church’s 67,000 missionaries has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Going into the final weekend of March, President Russell M. Nelson invited everyone to join in a worldwide fast and to pray for relief from the pandemic.
Here’s all our coverage of the church’s response to coronavirus.
