Who is now selling the Tier 3 gasoline that will dramatically clean our air? So far it’s just Chevron, Exxon, Shell, Silver Eagle, Speedway and Texaco. To find your closest station, see the map at tier3gas.org. Our governor, legislators and half of our refineries worked and invested a lot of money to produce Tier 3 gas for better air.
All other filling stations are selling unpredictable mixes of fuel and sometimes no Tier 3 gas at all. But if any of them pledge to consistently sell Tier 3, consider buying gas there, too.
Many retailers sell “top tier” gasoline. Which means their fuel has sufficient detergent to keep your engine clean. But “top tier” is not the same as Tier 3 and will do little to clean our air.
Tier 3 gasoline has been refined to contain far less sulfur than ordinary gasoline, and that allows your catalytic converter to remove more pollutants. Tier 3 gasoline in vehicles built after 2017 will reduce their pollution by 80% and also reduce pollution in older vehicles.
But that will only happen if we choose to buy Tier 3 gasoline at Chevron, Exxon, Shell, Silver Eagle, Speedway or Texaco and avoid all the rest until they start selling only Tier 3 gas.
