SALT LAKE CITY — Utah native Nick Vigil will be moving a little closer to home to extend his NFL career.

The former Fremont High and Utah State linebacker has agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers, ESPN’s Ben Baby reported in confirming the news first reported by Adam Caplan.

Vigil spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals — he was drafted by the team in the third round of the 2016 draft — before becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Vigil is coming off his best statistical season, finishing the 2019 season with 111 tackles, including 60 solo stops, while adding two fumble recoveries, five pass deflections, a forced fumble and an interception.
