Lori Vallow appeared in court Friday for the case

Residents around Rexburg, Idaho, weren’t shy to ask questions and share their thoughts about Lori Vallow, the mother of two missing children who has made national headlines.

What’s going on?

• Vallow, who is also facing felony charges of desertion and nonsupport, appeared in court Friday after she was arrested in Hawaii in February. Her bond was lowered from $5 million to $1 million.
• Rexburg residents stood outside the courthouse where they told KPVI their thoughts about Vallow as the court appearance went on. Here are some of the quotes from those residents:
• “If they can put up $100,000 dollars cash and afford to lose it, then Lori can afford to come out of jail. It doesn’t make any difference. All I want is the kids. Where are the kids? Bring the children forward.” — Larry Woodcock, the grandfather of “JJ” Vallow, one of the missing children.
• “If they’re fine, let us know they’re fine, and if not, let us know what’s happened to them because you know, as a mother I can’t imagine just leaving your children for any reason.” — Vicky Parrish Williams told KPVI.
• Williams said: “I hope Chad and Lori will come forth and let us know what’s really happening.”
• Williams said: “It’s hard to understand as a mother why Lori would leave her children, but it’s also an important issue for just women in general.”

More questions about the missing children

East Idaho News reporter Nate Eaton learned of a store in Rexburg that is selling cupcakes with the question “Where’s the kids?” written on top, which is a direct reference to Vallow. The cupcakes have white and orange frosting, which matches her jumpsuit, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
