A 23-year-old Irish singer-songwriter has gone viral for his creative take on a 2020 version of ‘I’ll Be There for You’
As stay-at-home and lockdown orders continue, people are starting to get a little bored, or at least desperate for something else to do besides watch Netflix. One singer decided to take his binge-watching and make it into art.
Entertainment Tonight reports JC Stewart, a singer-songwriter in Ireland, decided to make a “quarantine remix” of the famous “Friends” theme song, “I’ll Be There for You” by The Rembrandts and post it to his social media accounts on Instagram and TikTok on Tuesday.
The lyrics of Stewart’s remix are quite relatable to most people living through COVID-19, featuring common quarantine activities like looking in the fridge, watching “Tiger King,” looking in the fridge, staying inside all day and oh, did we mention looking in the fridge?
Shortly after posting, the video got a lot more attention than Stewart was anticipating. Billboard reports “Friends” alum Jennifer Aniston and “Vampire Diaries” actress Nina Dobrev shared Stewart’s song on their Instagram stories, pushing it out to their combined nearly 53 million followers.
The song also got the attention of “Good Morning America,” being featured on their show this morning for its creative take on what “Friends” would look like if it took place in 2020. By that time Stewart’s song had already garnered more than half a million views in just one day.
