General conference caution, temple closures and missionary quarantines have all been moves from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to protect members
On Thursday, April 2, confirmed infections from the coronavirus pandemic passed the 1,000,000 mark.
With more than 16 million members worldwide, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has made many temporary adjustments on multiple continents to help slow the spread of the virus.
The church has closed temples, suspended Sunday worship services and the upcoming general conference will only be viewed remotely. A significant number of missionaries have returned or are in the process of returning home for self-isolation, some with the option of returning to fulfill their service at a later date. Two missionaries have tested positive for COVID-19.
President Russell M. Nelson recently called for a worldwide day of prayer and fasting for relief from the pandemic. In recent days, members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles have used social media to minister globally and offer messages of hope and faith.
Here’s all our coverage of the church’s response to coronavirus.
