Eccles Theater, Abravanel Hall and other Salt Lake County arts venues will remain closed until June 30

All events scheduled to take place at Abravanel Hall, Capitol Theatre, Eccles Theater and the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center are affected by the closures.

Salt Lake County Arts & Culture’s venues will remain closed through June 30, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

All events scheduled to take place at Abravanel Hall, Capitol Theatre, Eccles Theater and the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center are affected by the closures.

The Salt Lake County Health Department and Mayor Jenny Wilson directed that the venues continue to remain closed in order to limit mass gatherings and maintain social distancing to continue to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, according to the statement.

The decision to keep Salt Lake County’s entertainment venues closed comes after Wilson’s announcement on Wednesday that many businesses in the county may begin to reopen on May 1 if they follow strict guidelines, as the Deseret News reported.

The extended closures will effect scheduled performances of shows like Ballet West’s “Bolero and the Dream,” which was already rescheduled once from April 17-25 to June 18-21 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the Utah Sypmhony’s “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in Concert” which was scheduled for June 19-21.

The venues are in the process of determining whether impacted shows can be rescheduled and will contact ticket-holders by email with information on new dates or refunds.
