Google is making life a bit easier for parents looking for an educational way to entertain their kids
Google is helping parents find kid-friendly, educational content through a new Kids section of the Google Play store as many children across the nation and world will now be homeschooled for the rest of the year, Engadget reports.
The Kids tab will include apps that have been “teacher approved,” meaning they’ve been viewed by and awarded high ratings from a panel of more than 200 teachers across the United States, according to TechCrunch.
All the “Teacher Approved” apps will be sorted by age groups, and evaluated for age appropriateness and educational value. Additionally, all apps in the new Kids section will meet Google’s “Designed for Families” requirements.
Originally, Google was planning a Kids section launch later this year, but decided to move the launch date up amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Verge reports.
The Kids tab will be available in the Google Play store on Android devices within the next few days in the United States, and in the next few months internationally, CNET reports.
As the release is coming earlier than expected, some of the content originally planned with the release won’t be ready by the launch but will be added “as quickly as possible,” according to Forbes.
