Kobe Bryant joins Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett as Hall of Fame inductees
Kobe Bryant has been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2020 class Saturday, joining other NBA legends Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan, according to Sports Illustrated.
What happened:
- Bryant was one of several members inducted into the Hall of Fame Saturday. The other inductees included:
- WNBA player Tamika Catchings
- FIBA executive Patrick Baumann
- Eddie Sutton
- Rudy Tomjanovich
- Kim Mulkey
- Barbara Stevens
ESPN said: “From the moment they were eligible, it was assured Duncan, Garnett and Bryant would gain entry into the Hall of Fame. However, what should have been a celebratory moment has instead had a pall cast over it.”
Kobe Bryant’s biggest achievement
- Kobe Bryant died in January in a tragic helicopter crash on Jan 26. He had spent 20 years with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning five titles.
- “It’s definitely the peak of his NBA career and every accomplishment that he had as an athlete was a stepping stone to be here,” Bryant’s widow Vanessa Bryant told ESPN about Bryant’s induction into the Hall of Fame.
