Rita Wilson emerges from coronavirus diagnosis to sing for NASCAR

Actress and singer Rita Wilson emerge fdrom quarantine after her COVID-19 diagnosis to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at a virtual NASCAR race Sunday,

What’s going on:

• Wilson and her husband, actor Tom Hanks, were diagnosed with COVID-19 in March, one of the celebrity diagnosis that helped kick off nationwide quarantining and social distancing.
• Wilson performed the national anthem for a NASCAR race on Fox Sunday from her home.
• NASCAR has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. But racers are using simulators that are similar to arcade games.

Wilson and her recovery

• Wilson and Hanks went into an immediate quarantine once they were diagnosed with COVID-19, as I wrote for the Deseret News. The couple were diagnosed when they were in Australia, working on an Elvis Presley biopic. The couple then traveled back to the United States at the end of March as they worked through their diagnosis.
• Wilson released a quarantine playlist amid the coronavirus pandemic, offering music for people to listen to while they’re stuck at home.
• Wilson also created a new text line for people to text her as well, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
