Man dies after being struck by vehicle in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY — One man died Saturday after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Salt Lake City.

The man, in his 60s, was walking in a crosswalk near 550 E. South Temple when he was hit, according to Salt Lake Fire Capt. Tony Stowe. The man’s name has not yet been released.

Stowe said the pedestrian and driver did not see each other, and witnesses were unsure whether the crosswalk lights were on.

Alcohol was not a contributing factor, Stowe said, and the driver is cooperating. Police have not yet issued any citations.
