Recent polling has shown a trend in Utah against voting for Donald Trump for president. Joe Biden would suppress religious freedom in favor of LGBT rights. No one should be forced against their will to defer to a practice they don’t believe in. Elective abortion rights, including late term and recent birth abortions, would also have Biden’s support.
In contrast, Donald Trump has stood up for religious freedom as a primary value, as opposed to various political agendas that would erode religious freedom. President Trump does support nondiscrimination against gay people, in hiring and housing. He was the first president to attend a Right to Life Rally in Washington, D.C., and give a speech in favor of protecting the unborn. He does support exceptions for rape, incest and the mother’s life being in danger. In my opinion, with late-term abortion, the mother’s life being in danger should be the only exception. Normally it is safer for the mother to have the baby. Recent birth abortion should never be allowed, as it is infanticide.
I do disagree with President Trump on immigration and environmental protections. With the Supreme Court and Congress, there are checks and balances on the president’s power in these areas. Also, Republican philosophy in general favors economic freedom as a cure for poverty. Most Republicans also support government assistance for disabled people who cannot work.
