Vanilla Ice still plans to hold a Texas concert
Rapper Vanilla Ice has decided to postpone his concert in Texas, which was scheduled for Friday, the Associated Press reports. He originally planned to hold the concert despite the recent spike in COVID-19 cases within the state.
Vanilla Ice became popular for his song “Ice Ice Baby” in 1990.
The rapper said he was performing a concert at a 2,500-capacity location for a Fourth of July throwback concert.
Vanilla Ice explained why he planned to hold the concert in an Instagram post.
“I can’t wait to get back to this. The ’90s were the best. We didn’t have coronavirus, or cellphones, or computers. we had 5.0’s, blockbuster, “Beavis and Butthead,” “Wayne’s World,” Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. And Mortal Kombat is still better than fortnight but we got out of the house, We danced, we invented house parties in the ’90s. The last of the great decades #IMissThenineties”
But Texas faces lockdowns
- According to Fox News, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has ordered all bars to be closed because of a recent COVID-19 spike within the states. Restaurants need to drop down to 50% capacity as well.
- Abbott said: “At this time, it is clear that the rise in cases is largely driven by certain types of activities, including Texans congregating in bars. The actions in this executive order are essential to our mission to swiftly contain this virus and protect public health.”
- That said, Vanilla Ice’s “The Independence Day Throwback Beach Party” will be at the Emerald Point Bar & Grill, which can have up to 5,000 people, per Fox News.
