Community Briefs
- Bountiful Davis Art Center is accepting proposals from artists, artist organizations and curators for exhibitions to take place in 2021. Professional artists who work in any media may apply, including contemporary, traditional, and folk art, as well as commercial art such as illustration. Proposals must be submitted by Sept. 12. - The Store at The Gateway in Salt Lake City is celebrating its first birthday with a week of specials and discounts starting Aug. 31. - Pioneer Theatre Guild, a volunteer association supporting Pioneer Theatre Company, is creating and selling retired set pieces that have been crafted into home products and gifts. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to the theater. Items include custom-built wine racks, shopping bags, and handcrafted games and can be purchased at pioneertheatre.org/second-act.
- The Bank of Utah is inviting Utah residents to participate in the “My Utah Is” photo contest. Utahns are invited to enter original color photos of their favorite Utah landscapes, as well as of friends and family members in those landscapes, through Sept. 11. The first-place winner will receive $500 and the winning photo will be featured on an electronic billboard. Second- and third-place winners will receive $300 and $200, respectively. Photos that are submitted to the contest may be featured in other Bank of Utah advertising and marketing. Individuals 18 and older are invited to enter and may enter up to three photos. The photos should not be significantly altered or include properties or structures that are owned by a third party. Winners will be announced on Sept. 18.
