Pinwheels illustrate Granite educators’ concerns about teaching amid pandemic

Granite Technical Institute teacher Carma Varas places red pinwheels in the grass outside Granite School District Education Center in South Salt Lake during her lunch break on Friday, Aug. 28, 2020. The Granite Education Association organized the demonstration at schools throughout the district to remind people that while school has started, teachers continue to have a variety of concerns, such as a lack of appropriate personal protective equipment, limited cleaning supplies and class sizes that don’t allow for social distancing.
