SALT LAKE CITY — The number of newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Utah declined again from a day earlier, with 301 new cases reported Sunday and no new deaths.
A day earlier, state health officials reported 369 new cases.
A total of 49,115 in the Beehive State have tested positive for the novel coronavirus so far, the Utah Department of Health reported. That’s out of 624,836 people tested; Sunday’s report included 2,473 new test results.
The rolling seven-day average of confirmed cases dipped down to 349 per day, with a rate of positive tests at 8.4%.
State health officials reported no new deaths from a day earlier, when it said the illness due to the novel coronavirus claimed the lives of two Salt Lake County residents of long-term care facilities. They were a man older than 65 and a woman older than 85. Since the pandemic struck Utah, 385 people have died of COVID-19.
Statewide 27 more people were hospitalized, up to a total of 2,926 since the beginning of the outbreak in Utah. The number of people currently being treated in a hospital is now 138, health officials noted.
The health department estimates that 40,831 people with known infections have recovered after passing more than three weeks since a diagnosis and not having passed away.

San Juan County: 661; 88 hospitalized; 27 deaths
Tooele County: 641; 31 hospitalized; 0 deaths
Wasatch County: 615; 25 hospitalized; 4 deaths
Central Utah: 484; 29 hospitalized, 2 deaths
