Morning walkers stroll on Big Cottonwood Canyon trail in Cottonwood Heights on Sunday. For meteorologists, fall began Sept. 1 – the start of the cooler 90 days coming off of summer. But the official start of autumn is Tuesday at 7:31 a.m., when the sun passes the equator on its move to the south and the loss of even more daylight for the Northern Hemisphere.
