Here’s a class-by-class look at the updated RPI rankings for Utah high school football after week 7’s games.
There are two new No. 1s after Friday, with Brighton taking over the top spot in 5A and Beaver taking over the top spot in 2A.
Previous 5A No. 1 Salem Hills lost to Springville 16-13 and fell to No. 5. Previous 2A No. 1 Duchesne won on Friday, but was leapt by Beaver because of a slightly better opponents winning percentage.
Skyridge, Sky View and Summit Academy all won on Friday to hold onto the No. 1 RPI ranking in their respective classification.
The biggest jump came in 6A as Weber vaulted from No. 15 to No. 10 with its 20-17 win over rival Fremont.
The RPI rankings will be used to seed the state tournaments next month, and their calculated by winning percentage (45 percent), opponent’s winning percentage (45 percent) and opponents’ opponents winning percentage (10 percent).
