SALT LAKE CITY — A Juab County man faces a criminal charge in connection with a fatal crash near Scipio.
Jace Austin Pettit, 18, of Levan, was charged Monday with automobile homicide, a third-degree felony, in Millard County’s 4th District Court.
On Aug. 22, police say Pettit was involved in a crash about five miles north of Scipio. Two juvenile passengers were in the vehicle Pettit was driving, one of which, a boy, was declared dead on scene, according to a search warrant affidavit.
A deputy who responded to the crash noticed the odor of alcohol on Pettit’s breath and “observed multiple cans of beer strewn about the passenger compartment of (the vehicle),” the warrant states.
