Letter: Protect the endangered species in your backyards

People who move into areas where wild animals live should expect problems with them. We shouldn’t think we can kill the animals living in their home ground.

Some of the people living in those areas seem surprised that wildlife, such as deer, cougars, foxes — and yes, even coyotes live here. Many animals we see as threats are actually at risk of becoming extinct because of human encroachment. Endangering them further would be a sad legacy to leave those who follow after us.
